The Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, a renowned elite university, has founded the QAR Lab, a spearhead in the field of quantum computing. As part of a wide range of projects, we develop algorithms and platforms as the decisive innovations that will ensure that quantum computers meet the high expectations placed on them. Our approach is practical: we have access to several existing QC systems, such as IBM's "System One" and D-Wave Systems' "Advantage." We want to put the quantum advantage into practice!

Weekly hours8 - 20h possible
Limited torecurring every 3 months (possibly with a longer term later)

Your responsibilities

  • Research in the field of quantum computing
  • Realization of application-oriented prototypes for quantum optimization problems and quantum-assisted artificial intelligence
  • Software development on the department's own quantum computing software platform
  • Integration of access to quantum computers and quantum-inspired hardware (in particular IBM System One, Fujitsu DAU, D-Wave Systems Advantage, Rigetti Aspen-11)

Your profile

  • Degree in computer science or a related field, ideally with a very good grade point average
  • Curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for research and new technologies
  • Very good programming skills
  • Experience in software development
  • Basic knowledge of quantum computing
